With a steady rise in temperature owing to the sweeping heat wave that has affected lives of the people of Odisha since past few days, the Odisha government has also decided to change the timing of schools in the interest of the students.
Rescheduling the opening timings, the Odisha government on Wednesday ordered schools to start morning classes from April 2.
As per the new schedule, classes for 1-8 students will start at 6:30 am and end at 10 am. For class 9 and 10 students, the classes will begin at 7am and continue till 11am.
Odisha School & Mass Education Minister, Sameer Dash said, “The heat wave condition has forced us to revise the school timings so that the students face minimum heat during school hours.”
Physical classes for students from Class 8 to 12, along with colleges, universities and other technical institutions had reopened from February 7. However, classes for students from KG to Class 7 were reopened from February 14 2022.
The State government had also allowed the educational institutions to reopen their hostels for students from February 7 while strictly adhering to the Covid-19 protocols of the government.
