Scores of students of Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar on Friday staged a massive demonstration demanding postponement of +3 second year examination.
The students claim that normal life across Odisha has been adversely affected by the intense heatwave condition that has been prevailing in the state for the past several days. The +3 second year examination is scheduled to be held at RD Women’s University from April 30 to May 18, 2024.
As the Odisha government has announced early summer vacation in schools across the state in view of the intense heatwave conditions, the students are questioning how they will appear for the exam under such adverse weather conditions. Be it Utkal University or Sambalpur University, the concerned educational institutions have already postponed their scheduled examinations.

“We want the exam to be postponed. This is a genuine demand as there are problems in transportation, no proper ventilation in hostels. We are not mentally prepared to appear for the exam due to intense heatwave conditions,” said an agitating student.
The students said that a delegation met the University officials yesterday.
“Strike was our last hope as our concerns were ignored and grievances were not resolved. The students of Shailabala, Ravenshaw University and others have already postponed the exams. Our authorities say that exam postponement will affect future studies,” said a student.
