A youth was critically injured after he was fired at by another youth at Badakantakula village under Bantala police station in the district on Wednesday.

The injured has been identified as Akhila Behera. He was initially admitted to Bantala Primary Health Center. Later he was shifted to District Headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated. He is said to be critical.

According to reports, Behera had past enmity with Sisir Sahu of the village. They had a heated argument at around 11 pm last night over some unknown reasons. In a fit of rage Sisir allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Akhila who received severe bullet injuries in his left hand.

 

Villagers immediately rushed Akhila to the nearby Bantala Primary Health Center. However, his condition deteriorated due to excessive bleeding. He was later shifted to the District Headquarters hospital.

Earlier on March 12, a businessman had been critically injured after being allegedly shot at by three miscreants in Umerkote area of Nabrangpur district.

The injured businessman T Sanjeev Subudhi was standing in front of the Punjab National Bank branch office at Umerkote when the three miscreants opened fire at him and fled the spot.
