A woman posing as a CBI officer's wife allegedly duped a West Bengal resident who works as a cook at Balasore Club of Rs 6 lakh.
As per reports, Prakash Maiti works as a cook at Balasore Club. Last year, he had gone to his house in Medinipur, West Bengal. When he was returning on a train, he met with a couple. The woman introduced her husband as a CBI officer and established an acquaintance with him. Later, on different pretexts, she took Rs 6 lakh from him.
The matter came to the fore after Prakash lodged a complaint at Balasore Sadar police station.

“I was returning from Medinipur to Balasore on a train when I met the couple. The man introduced himself as a CBI officer. They told me that they had gone to Kalighat where all their money was looted. After coming to know their problem, I took them to Balasore and kept them with me. The woman made me her brother. Later, on different pretexts, she took Rs 12 lakh from me,” narrated Prakash.
Informing about the case, Sadar Police Station IIC Dayanidhi Das said, “After establishing a relationship with Prakash Maiti, Ramesh Das and his wife asked the former for some money. According to the victim, they took around Rs 6 lakh from him. Our investigation is underway.”
