Vigilance arrests Kamakshyanagar Sub-Collector
The officials of the Vigilance department on Tuesday arrested Kamakshyanagar Sub-Collector Narayan Chandra Nayak on the charges of possessing disproportionate assets.
Multiple raids were conducted on the properties linked to Nayak on Monday.
During the raid, the Vigilance sleuths had found that Nayak was in possession of disproportionate assets including 3 multi-storeyed buildings including 1 triple-storeyed building at Bhubaneswar.
Apart from this, 14 high-value plots including seven in Bhubaneswar, deposits over Rs.34.57 lakhs, cash over Rs.1.48 lakhs, gold 366 gms were also detected during the raids. As Nayak could not give any satisfactory answer, he was booked under relevant sections as per law.
In this connection, Vigilance Cell has registered a case against Nayak and further investigation is underway.
On Monday, the Vigilance team comprising seven DSPs, three Inspectors, eight ASIs, and other supporting staff conducted searches on the properties linked to Nayak on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
The Vigilance had also detected huge assets during raid at four places associated with Subhash Chandra Panda, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) of Berhampur Division yesterday.

On seeing the Vigilance team, Panda threw away Rs.10 Lakh from his triple-storeyed building to the terrace of a neighbour’s building and the amount was subsequently recovered by the team of Odisha Vigilance.
Further, multiple plots, Rs 13 lakh cash, 1 kg gold and other articles were also detected during the raid.
