Cyber frauds continues unabated in Odisha with another person being allegedly duped by the online scamsters in Odisha. This time, a Ukraine-returnee medical student has fallen prey to the fraudsters.
As per reports, the cyber-fraud victim, identified as Faraz, is a final-year student of a medical college in Ukraine. He was allegedly duped by cyber fraudsters, a week ago, while seeking a job through online mode.
The student had reportedly deposited a specific sum of money to teach students of a ‘registered private organisation’.
"I had deposited Rs 2500 as registration fee. I didn't sense anything fishy then, but after receiving the registration fee, they didn't respond to my calls or contacted me," said Faraz.
Describing the entire incident, the medical student said, "I am into the teaching profession for the last three years and I used to teach junior MBBS students while in Ukraine. After I came back to Odisha, following the Ukraine-Russia war, I continued to teach Social Science, Science and Biology subjects. I have a passion for teaching and hence, I applied for online teaching through Naukri.com, which is a reputable website."
He continued, "After submitting my curriculum vitae, I received a notification from onlinetutorme.com. The scamsters convinced me to go ahead with the registration process. However, I was duped. Then, I decided to lodge a complaint with the Bhubaneswar cyber police."
"Rs 2500 is not a big amount but if they have duped several others, they must have collected a huge amount. They must be nabbed as soon as possible or else they will continue duping others," he added.
The officials of the Bhubaneswar cyber police could not be contacted to speak on the matter.
