Spurious ghee manufacturing unit busted in Cuttack

Police busted a spurious ghee manufacturing factory at Jagatpur New Industrial Estate in Cuttack on Thursday. 

As per reports, on being tipped off about the factory where adulterated ghee was being manufactured, a team from Jagatpur Police Station conducted a raid on the factory. The raid was conducted in the presence of a team of health officers from the Cuttack Municipality Corporation (CMC). 

“The Jagatpur IIC was tipped off that a factory in Jagatpur New Industrial Estate was manufacturing edible ghee in the name of ‘Bal Gopal Ghee’. We immediately passed the information to the food safety officer and health officer and subsequently, a joint raid was carried out,” said a police officer.

“Our preliminary investigation revealed that they were manufacturing edible ghee by adding a kind of essence, some raw materials to Ruchi Gold’s vanaspati which, if consumed, is bad for health,” he added. 

In this connection, the police detained the factory's owner and launched a detailed probe.
