Police on Tuesday busted an adulterated spices manufacturing unit at Brajarajnagar under Bada Bazar police limits of Berhampur.

As per reports, the Bada Bazar Police were tipped off that adulteration of spices like chilli powder, turmeric powder etc. were being manufactured in a house located on the fourth lane at Brajarajnagar. The police were also informed that the owner of the unit used to supply the products to nearby markets besides the Berhampur market without having the required licences.

Acting on the tip-off, the police conducted raids on the unit. During raids, huge quantities of spices, raw materials and packaging materials were found. However, the packets didn’t have any labels.

Then the food safety officer of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) was called in. In his presence, the items were inspected and some samples were taken for laboratory testing.
