In a tragic incident, a security guard allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself from his service firearm at Ganga Nagar area in Bhubaneswar late on Monday night.

The incident occurred at around mid night. The deceased, identified as Krushna Dash took the extreme step allegedly due to family problems. However, relatives rubbished the claims of any feud in the family which forced him to take the drastic step.

Wife of the deceased said that he was under severe mental stress after he was attacked by some miscreants a few days ago.

“At first, he tried to kill himself inside the house using his gun. However, I and my children saved him at the nick of time by snatching the gun from him. Thereafter, I counselled him not to take such an extreme step for the sake of the family and children. I also called the PCR for help,” she said.

However, Dash was unrelenting. His wife said moments later, he came out of the house and shot himself from the gun. The incident took place in the presence of the police personnel who had been called by Dashs’ wife to prevent the former from making another suicide attempt. Before the police could react, Dash pulled the trigger, she said.

The police later sent the body to the Capital Hospital for conducting post-mortem.
