The Odisha Special Task Force (STF) seems to have a bigger job at hand in connection with the recently-busted racket involving procuring of huge numbers of pre-activated SIM cards and selling the OTPs to some Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIO) and ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) agents in Pakistan.

So far, several accused including the alleged mastermind of fake SIM cards and OTP sharing scam Pathanisamant Lenka and others have been arrested in this connection.

The STF is now trying to join the dots as one of the accused Pritam Kar (31), who was arrested from Jajpur district, had provided SIM card and debit card which was used by the accused involved in the last year’s Mangalore auto blast (terror act).

A team of West Bengal STF had recently interrogated Pathanisamant Lenka and Pritam Kar here, sources said. A team of Odisha STF is also likely to visit West Bengal for carrying out necessary investigation as the links of Pathanisamant with one Guddu Kumar, who was arrested by West Bengal STF in connection with sharing crucial information to Pakistan, have also emerged.

It can be mentioned here that the Odisha STF had brought accused Pritam Kar on two-day remand. During interrogation, Kar admitted to having invested around Rs 1 crore in crypto currency.

“The accused has revealed the names of some of his co-accused. Our teams will conduct raids to nab them. The West Bengal STF team had also interrogated Pathanisamant Lenka at Jharpada jail,” said a senior STF official.

The West Bengal STF is likely to take Pathanisamant on transit remand as his links with Guddu Kumar have come to the fore.
