The bodies of a woman and her minor daughter were found in their house under mysterious circumstances at Sanabaragaon Balihata village under Polsara Police limits of Ganjam on Thursday.

The deceased woman and her daughter have been identified as Manika Gouda and Geli, respectively.

As per reports, the deceased woman’s neighbours found the door of the house closed from the inside for a long period. When they noticed no movement, they knocked on the doors but received no reply.

Suspecting something amiss, they informed the police. A team from Polsara Police Station reached the spot. When the door was broken open, Manika and her daughter’s bodies were found lying on the floor. The police recovered the bodies for post-mortem.

While the actual reason behind the deaths was not ascertained immediately, family dispute is suspected to be the cause as Manika and her husband reportedly had frequent quarrels over some issues.

On the other hand, the deceased woman’s family members alleged that Manika’s husband had murdered them and tried to pass it off as a suicide case.

Based on the allegation, the police have launched a probe.
