The Vigilance sleuths on Saturday arrested Rebati Raman Joshi, Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) of Hirakud Wild Life Division in Sambalpur after huge assets were unearthed during raids on his properties yesterday.

As per official sources, Joshi has been placed under arrest in disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Earlier on Friday, Vigilance conducted multiple raids at nine places linked to Joshi in Bargarh and Sambalpur and unearthed disproportionate assets in his name.

During the raid, the Vigilance found Joshi in possession of disproportionate assets comprising three buildings including 1 triple-storeyed building in Sambalpur town worth approx Rs 1.80 crore.

Besides, four flats including one in Bhubaneswar and three in Sambalpur town were found in the name of Joshi during the raid. Moreover, seven high-value plots and Rs 14.71 lakh cash were also detected during the raids.

Odisha Vigilance, led by 3DSPs, 10 Inspectors, and other supporting staff, conducted simultaneous house searches based on search warrants issued by the Special Judge Vigilance, Sambalpur.

Subsequently, the ACF has been placed under arrest and will be produced before the Court for possession of disproportionate assets.

The Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case against Joshi and further investigation in this connection is underway, the officials said in a release.
