Odisha teenager ‘hacks girlfriend to death, dumps body in forest’

The body of a young girl, who had gone missing from Bargarh’s Nadipada village on March 20, was mysteriously found in a forest near Hirakud. The incident has spared shockwaves in the areas.

As per allegations, the girl was brutally murdered, by her alleged boyfriend. The 20-year-old allegedly took the girl to the forest on some pretext and hacked her to death.

Police have detained the girl’s rumoured boyfriend, Raj Barik, the main suspect in the murder while his friend has been absconding since the murder. Barik, a native of the Attabira region in Bargarh district, was detained by police and will undergo a medical examination before being presented in court.

While no exact reason for the gruesome murder was known immediately, misunderstanding in relationship is suspected to be the reason for the heinous crime. 

Police Investigation Underway

On being informed, police teams from both Bargarh and nearby Burla converged on the scene to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the tragic event. Under suspicion, cops detained several young men for interrogation.

Later, the accused Raj Barik reportedly confessed to his crime while being questioned by the authorities as part of the inquiry. The police are working to determine the circumstances and motive behind this grim death of the young girl.
