Unidentified miscreants have looted valuables worth lakhs of rupees from a jewellery shop in Khordha town. The incident reportedly happened late last night near the busy Patitapabana Chhak in Gurujang area of the town. Robbers are believed to have barged into the shop after digging out the shutter of the outlet first before breaking into an inner glass door and grill gate.

Town Police reached the spot soon after getting the news of the dacoity. A scientific team has also been deployed at the spot to help the police in the investigation and collect vital evidence pertaining to the crime. CCTV footage, prints of fingers have been collected from the shop to expedite the probe into the incident.

Police sources reveal that the miscreants have reportedly cut out the CCTV camera connection before going on a loot rampage inside the shop.

The owner of the shop has been asked to submit detailed bills and catalogue of all the valuable items of jewellery inside the outlet before the loot while locals are being interrogated to elicit more lead into the robbery case.

The proprietor of the jewellery shop has said that he was unaware about the extent of loot from his outlet. "I can only say about the losses after the police allows me to look into loot spot. I don't like to accept but gold, silver worth lakhs have been looted from my shop," he said.
