Missing Puri boy found dead inside septic tank with chopped private parts; relative detained

A wave of grief and outrage engulfed the Delanga region of Puri district after the body of 11-year-old boy, Ashirbad Sahu, who had gone missing since last few days, was recovered late on Sunday night. The decomposed body was recovered from a septic tank near his home in Ratanpur village, sending shockwaves through the community.

Murder Suspected

According to police sources, Ashirbad had been reported missing for the past few days. Despite desperate searches by family and locals, there had been no clue to his whereabouts until his lifeless body was found in a horrifying state—partially mutilated, with his private parts reportedly severed. The brutal nature of the murder has intensified public anger, especially after it was revealed that a close relative is allegedly involved in the crime.

The prime suspect, identified as Prabhakar Sahu, a relative of the deceased, has been detained by police for questioning. While official confirmation is awaited, preliminary investigations suggest Prabhakar’s direct involvement in the murder. Sources claim that he was earlier picked up for interrogation but was released by police due to lack of evidence—an action that has now drawn widespread criticism from the public.

“He is not a direct relative of the deceased minor child. He was staying close to the victim’s house. The kid was playing cricket and was seen talking with him. People had doubted the intention of the accused after the accused had taken another boy and dropped him at his house late night,” alleged a local resident.

Locals Ransack Suspect’s House

Following the recovery of the body, a large crowd gathered at the suspect’s residence and reportedly vandalized his property in protest. 
Furious locals are demanding the harshest punishment for Prabhakar, with many calling for the death penalty. Tensions remain high in the area, and police have been deployed to maintain law and order.

Murder Motive Unclear

The motive behind the murder remains unclear, with several unanswered questions haunting both the community and investigating authorities. Was it a case of personal enmity? A planned assault? Or something more sinister?  The condition in which the body was found has also raised concerns.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased is inconsolable. Ashirbad’s parents, devastated by the loss, are struggling to come to terms with the gruesome nature of their son’s death. The entire Delanga area is mourning, with residents describing the incident as one of the most heart-wrenching tragedies to strike their community in recent memory.

Police have not yet issued a formal statement but have assured that the investigation will be thorough and swift. No one involved in this heinous act will be spared, said a senior official stated, adding that forensic and post-mortem reports will play a crucial role in the case.
