The body of a missing Plus II first-year girl was recovered from a bush, a few yards away from her house at Mangalpur under Sadar police limits of Dhenkanal on Friday. 

According to sources, the deceased girl was a student of Dhenkanal Women’s College. Like any other day, she had gone to a private coaching centre at Kunjakanta in the town at 2pm on Thursday. After her class, she left the coaching centre for her home but didn’t reach. 

When she didn’t return home at her usual time, the family members launched a frantic search but failed in their attempts to trace her. 

Later, her body was found lying in a bush, a few yards away from her house. On being informed, Sadar SDPO, a team from the Sadar Police Station along with a scientific team reached the spot, recovered the body for post-mortem, and launched a probe.

Since a blood-stained stone was also seized from the spot, local people suspected that she had been murdered. The cops have analyzed the footage captured in the CCTV cameras installed nearby. From the CCTV footage, it was concluded that she went missing while returning home. 

“It is too early to say anything about the cause and the nature of the death,” said Additional SP of Dhenkanal, Bhawani Shankar Udgata.
