Significantly, the CCTV DVR system was also stolen, indicating a possible attempt to erase surveillance footage and hinder investigation efforts.

The matter came to light when a neighbour noticed the broken door and alerted the authorities. Based on the neighbour’s complaint, a case has been registered at Jharusuguda Town Police Station, and an investigation is underway.

However, police are yet to issue an official statement regarding the case.

The theft at a sitting MLA’s flat has raised questions over the safety and security mechanisms in residential complexes. The absence of CCTV footage is expected to pose challenges in identifying the culprits.

Meanwhile, forensic and fingerprint experts are likely to be engaged in the probe to collect physical evidence from the crime scene. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
