Nayagarh: Even as the Nayagarh minor girl ‘Pari’ death case, that had triggered state-wide public and political furore months ago, is still haunting the collective conscience of the State, a similar incident involving missing of a six year-old girl has been reported in the same district, putting the scanner once again on police administration.

The incident took at Dhunduligadia under Banigochha police limits. The minor girl identified as Baby Nayak had gone missing while she was playing in front of her house on June 12 and is still untraced, family members alleged.

Jhuli Nayak, mother of the girl said “She was playing inside the house when I went for bathing. After returning, I called her to take food and she refused to eat and went outside the home to play. Later when I called her for eating, she was found missing.”

Family members of the girl and their neighbours launched a frantic search at every possible location but failed to trace her. They eventually lodged a complaint with police and a case was registered in this connection.

“We have intensified the search with the help of sniffer dogs. All the water bodies in the nearby locality have been searched.  Information has been passed on to neighbouring police stations and districts. We hope to crack the case soon,” said Umakant Mallick, additional Superintendent of Police.

“The investigation is underway and we are doing our best to locate the minor girl,” he added.
