After a high drama, all three members of a family were rescued by police and fire services personnel from the captivity of a youth at Santipada area in Bolangir Town on Tuesday.
According to reports, the youth identified as one Bikram Panda unleashed terror in the area by holding the family members of Madanmohan Hota captive at gun points for several hours over an alleged relationship issue.
Upon being informed, the Bolangir Town Police, SDPO and Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the family members through the window of the room with the help of ladder and ropes.

“After few rounds of talk with the youth over phone, we decided to enter the room by putting on bullet proof vests. We managed to rescue all the family members through the window with ladder and ropes,” said SDPO Tophan Bag.
“It is assumed that the youth kept the family members hostage over a relationship issue. He threatened to kill himself and others whenever the security personnel tried to reach near them. The youth seems to be educated and he has knowledge about the criminal laws. We prepared a blueprint and were successful to rescue the captives,” said Bag.
