Masked lootera gang giving sleepless nights to people in Odisha's Sambalpur

The residents of Sambalpur are now having sleepless nights. Reason, a gang of masked thieves are on the prowl. The movement of the gang members at a colony has been captured in a CCTV camera. The CCTV footage shows that masked thieves are entering the Jagannath colony from the road connecting Sakhipada near the Railway LHS.

It is alleged that the thieves tried to break into three houses at Jagannath colony. The miscreants had managed to cut the grill of a house while they escaped after another house owner woke up after hearing some sound. “My daughter went to the terrace and found the door open. She then called me and later we realised the thieves had gained access and tried to enter the house by breaking the door lock,” said a local resident.

Another house owner said, “The thieves had entered the boundary wall of my house and my son raised an alarm after seeing a flashlight. My children were awake at around 2 am when the thieves tried to commit a robbery.”

Local residents are now demanding tight security measures.

“Earlier, police patrolling was being done and two constables were deployed here. But now it is not being done. As a result, the thieves are moving freely at night in search of committing offence. There is also a threat to the lives,” said a local.
