Even as the police are yet to make any breakthrough in the mysterious death of Manish Anurag Das, son of senior Journalist Navin Das, shocking details have emerged about a hotel where he was seen the day before his death.

According to sources, the South City Hotel which was sealed after the death of Manish, is run by a policeman. A video clip that surfaced on the internet showed lavish parties being held in the bar. Youngsters were seen dancing to loud music in the bar while female dancers were seen entertaining the customers. The bar has all the trappings of a Dance Bar as some customers were also seen showering wads of cash on the dancers.

In the video clip shot in August, Prasanna Behera, secretary of police constable association, was also seen dancing. He is said to be running the bar on lease.

Sources said the parties in the bar run till late at night despite the restrictions imposed by the police in view of Covid-19. Questions are being raised as to why no action was taken against the bar cum restaurant cum alleged dance bar for flouting the government norms.

According to sources, Manish was a regular at the bar and went along with his friends. A day before his death, a quarrel had allegedly broken out at the bar over payment and Manish was detained for some time by the bar management.

It was also alleged that the bar management used to lend money to patrons, mostly youngsters, to spend the money on liquor and bar dancers.

While the Commissionerate police are taking ahead its investigation in the case, many murkier details are expected to come to light about the hotel in the coming days.

Notably, the body of Manish was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a pond at Patrapada on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Sunday (October 10) hours after his family allegedly received a ransom call from unidentified persons on Saturday night.
