The bodies of a young man and a woman were found hanging from two trees at Samantarapur village under Jarada police station in Ganjam district on Tuesday.

Though the reason behind their deaths is still unknown, locals suspected that they committed suicide due to failure in love.

Upon being informed, Jarada police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

As per reports, some local residents spotted the body of the boy hanging from a tree in a mango orchard in the village. Subsequently, a girl came to the spot and wept. Later, her body was found hanging from another tree nearly half kilometre from the spot. 

Some locals informed the police following the incident. Later, a team of the police reached the spot and seized the bodies for post-mortem.

In a similar incident, bodies of a youth and a girl were found from Dumsil village under Narayanpatna block in Koraput district on Tuesday. However, the cause of the death is yet to be ascertained. 

Moreover, the body of a missing youth was found hanging from a tree in Bhaludiha forest in Phulbani district.

As per reports the youth from Sikaguda village under Chakapada police station was missing from his home since May 9. The family members had lodged a missing complaint at Chakapada police station three days later. However, his body was found hanging from a tree today.

The family members of the deceased again lodged a complaint with Chakapada police alleging that he has been murdered.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.
