Man killed, several injured in clash over ‘witchcraft’ suspicion in Bolangir; 2 arrested

Blind faith is leading people astray at a time when there has been tremendous progress in the field of science and technology. In the latest case of superstition, a man lost his life after he and his family were allegedly attacked by a family over witchcraft suspicion in Odisha’s Bolangir.

The incident took place at Athagaon village under Tusura police limits in the district. The deceased has been identified as Shyam Sundar Bag.

The clash between the two families escalated to such an extent that Sushant Bag died on the spot. Four members from both families were critically injured and admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College in Bolangir.

Police Investigation Details:

The police are currently investigating the incident and have arrested two accused including the prime accused Bal in connection with the murder.

“We got information regarding the murder last night. IIC along with a police team rushed to the spot and it appears to be a dispute between two families. We have arrested two persons in connection with the incident and efforts are on to nab others,” said Bolangir SP.

The SP further informed that the murder took place over suspicion of witchcraft. “However, we are conducting further investigation in this connection,” he added.
