Man hacks sister-in-law to death over land dispute in Odisha's Ganjam
In a tragic turn of events, an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker on Thursday was hacked to death by her brother-in-law over a land dispute in the village of Chadiapalli, located in Jagannathprasad, Ganjam district.
The deceased has been identified as Tuni Tripathi, an ASHA worker.
Escalation to Violence
According to sources, a land dispute prevailed between Tuni and her brother-in-law’s family. The two families were at loggerheads for the last couple of years.
As usual, the two broke out in a fight over the dispute on Thursday night. During the altercation, the brother-in-law is said to have lost his temper, resulting in him attacking her with an axe, leading to her death on the spot.
Police Investigation Underway
The accused is currently on the run, and the local police in Jagannathprasad have launched a thorough investigation to ascertain the details surrounding this distressing incident.
“Efforts are underway to bring those responsible to justice,” police said.
