BJP is observing a 12-hour Sonepur Bandh on Thursday demanding the ouster of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged close proximity with Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the Kalahandi school teacher Mamita Meher murder case. The party has also sought a CBI probe into the matter.

The Opposition party workers are observing the bandh in all the five blocks, two NACs and one Municipality area of the district. The party had observed 12-hour Birmaharajpur Bandh on October 25.

Similarly, BJP has also called for Nuapada Bandh. The party workers will gherao SP office in Boudh today.

Meanwhile, a BJP central team led by Vanathi Srinivasan will visit Odisha on October 29 to conduct an investigation into the murder case. The team would submit its report to BJP national president JP Nadda on return from Odisha.

Earlier a day before, BJP workers had intensified their protests across Odisha demanding the ouster of the minister.

The BJP Yuva Morcha members had gheraoed the Balasore SP office demanding expulsion of the minister on Wednesday.

BJP activists led by Sundargarh MP Jual Oram took out a rally from Deogaon demanding the resignation of the minister. They submitted a memorandum to Sundargarh SP seeking a CBI probe into the murder case.

Meanwhile, hundreds of BJP youth wing workers staged protests at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district demanding the expulsion of the minister. They took out a rally from the Circuit house and gheraoed SP office seeking justice for the victim.

BJP youth wing members also gheraoed SP office in Malkangiri to put pressure on the government for the ouster of the minister.
