Major online betting racket busted in Odisha; 5 arrested, mastermind still absconding

A major police operation has led to the dismantling of a major online betting syndicate operating out of Kantabanji in Bolangir district. Though five persons have been arrested, the mastermind of the online betting syndicate, Hitu Jain, once again managed to give the cops a slip.

The online betting syndicate was active not only in Odisha but also outside the state.

The operation was conducted following directions of Bolangir SP. On getting information, a dedicated task force carried out a series of raids that resulted in the arrest of five individuals suspected of being involved in the illegal betting activities.

During these raids, the police confiscated critical equipment, including three laptops and 18 mobile phones, which are said to be key articles used by the accused in operating the racket.

Authorities have hailed this operation as a significant step towards curbing illegal betting activities that have been plaguing the region. By effectively dismantling this network, law enforcement hopes to discourage similar operations and maintain law and order in the area.

Bolangir district has been in the spotlight due to various unlawful operations. This successful crackdown is seen as a positive move towards restoring peace and integrity within the community.
