Kidnapping of mining company VP: Keonjhar police arrests 8 accused, Rs 50 lakh recovered

Kidnapping of mining company VP

Barbil Police on Saturday cracked the mystery surrounding the kidnapping of the Vice-president of Grewal Mining and Metals at Barbil, Nimananda Pradhan by arresting eight accused involved in the crime.

Senior police officials informed that the entire crime was conspired and executed by a notorious criminal from Ranchi identified as Sadab Khan with the help of the victim’s driver Firoz. Police have also recovered Rs 50 lakhs out of the Rs 60 lakh which was paid by the victim’s family to the kidnappers.

How The Incident Took Place?

The Vice-president of Grewal Mining and Metals, Nimananda Pradhan reportedly went missing under mysterious circumstances on February 12. He was traveling with his driver Md Feroz.

Feroz had passed on information regarding Pradhan’s family status and other details to the mastermind of the entire kidnapping, Sadab Khan. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from the victim’s family.

Police Investigation

On getting information regarding the incident, 12 police teams were formed and dispatched to Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Patna, Purulia, Chaibasa, and other places.

Preliminary Investigation 

During probe, it was found that Feroz was an assistant driver and was with the victim when the incident took place. Usually, Pradhan used to travel to his office and other places with his regular driver who was absent on the day when he was kidnapped.

Notably, Feroz had istributed sweets among the staff. Two laddos were mixed with sedative drugs were given to the regular driver and another staff for which they had become unwell. To avoid suspicion, the abductors had also assaulted Feroz. After the kidnapping, the victim was taken to Ranchi and held captive.
