Despite awareness, a lot of people are falling prey to various fraudsters who dupe them on the pretext of providing government jobs in lieu of money. One such fraud has now been reported from Sundargarh district.

As per allegations, several aspirants have fallen prey to the fake job racket in which the scamsters promised them jobs in Sundargarh Government Medical College. The scammers duped the aspirants by promising them data entry, attendant, security guard and receptionist jobs.

It is alleged that signature and letter pad of the dean of the medical college and logo of Odisha government were forged to prepare fake documents. From joining letters to identity cards, the scammers issued every document to the aspirants and made them believe that the documents were genuine.

“I had applied for the receptionist post. I had also paid the money and was given a joining letter, ID card and other documents. But when I asked about the joining date, they started avoiding me,” Seema, a duped aspirant said.

It is alleged that one government school teacher is involved in the fake job racket. However, the teacher has refuted the allegations levelled against him.

“I have not taken any money from anyone. I don’t know why they are making such allegations,” said Basant Tajan, a teacher.

So far, four to five aspirants have been duped by the fake job racket in Sundargarh district. The number of aspirants who have been conned might go up in the coming days.

The Dean of Sunderagarh Medical College said that such a fraud has come to notice and appealed to job aspirants to remain cautious.

“There is no role of the medical college in the matter and we have not issued any advertisement for any vacancy. The aspirants should verify the advertisements from authorities of the medical college,” said Daitari Routray, Dean of Sundargarh Medical College.

Meanwhile, the duped aspirants have lodged a complaint against three persons in connection with fraud at Town Police station.
