Deogarh police on Tuesday arrested as many as four persons in connection with the murder of a youth at Raital area in the district three months ago.

The assailants identified as Chandlu Kishan, Surendra Majhi, Daitari Kishan and Pradeep Majhi had allegedly called one Krushna Kishan from his home and murdered him over a Hanuman coin in a planned manner, informed police.

Cops said that Krushna was called out to a lonely place outside his village and was attacked by the group with a sturdy stick on May 3, 2021.

Later his body was spotted nearby an electric power transformer in the village. The stick with which the accused reportedly killed Krushna was seized by the police.

Based on a complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased, police started an investigation into the incident and arrested the accused after three months.

“We have been able to arrest the accused after a thorough investigation and collecting all the information about the incident. A small coin, which seems to be an Australian currency, has also been seized,” said Deogarh SP Rajkishor Paikaray.
