All four accused involved in the robbery of Utkal Grameen Bank's Kandabahal branch in Sundergarh district have been arrested from Jharkhand, Sundergarh superintendent of police Sagarika Nath said on Friday.   

The accused were nabbed from Khunti police jurisdiction in Jharkhand. A total of Rs 32,000, two motorcycles used in the robbery, four pistols, live ammunition and four mobile phones were seized from their possession, Nath said.    

"Three teams were formed under Sadar SDPO following loot of Utkal Grameen Bank on July 27. With the joint effort of the three teams along with cooperation from Bihar and Jharkhand police, all four accused have been apprehended," Nath said while briefing the media.  

Nath further informed that the four accused were involved in as many as 150 criminal incidents in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. She added that cases are registered against them at multiple police stations. 

"We will carry out further investigation to ascertain if the accused had any local contacts," the SP added.

On July 27, the four accused had come riding two motorcycles at around 2.30 pm and barged into the bank wielding guns. They held the staff at gunpoint and looted Rs 2.87 lakh from the strong room. They also snatched away the belongings of the bank staffers before making good their escape.
