Fraud by self-styled Godman: Accused Kaifi Khan has 80 accounts; associates now under scanner

The Managalabag Police on Friday revealed that the self-styled Godman or tantrik, identified as Kaifi Khan, has 80 accounts in different banks in Cuttack with multiple accounts with Sahara.

Apart from this, Kaifi Khan had also purchased a plot near Salepur Paga and used to maintain a lavish lifestyle. He was travelling frequently to various places outside the state. Kaifi Khan was recently arrested based on the complaint filed by a woman who accused him of duping her to the tune of Rs 62 lakh on the pretext of warding off negative energy and digging out hidden treasure from her house.

It was just the tip of the ice-berg then as more and more victims approached the police to file complaints against Kaifi Khan. So far, six different cases of cheating and fraud have been registered against him.

Senior official of Mangalabag Police Station said that already one of the associates of Kaifi Khan has been arrested. Preliminary investigation reveals that there are four to five more persons who had also helped Kaifi to spread his network and dupe people in different areas.

It has also been learned that Kaifi Khan had also brought Rs 1 crore from a person from Kolkata during the demonetization period, assuring him to deposit it in bank against commission. Further investigation in this connection is underway.
