The Commissionerate Police has arrested four more persons on charges of black marketing tickets of the ongoing FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup matches in Bhubaneswar. The accused were caught red-handed while black marketing tickets of the India- New Zealand match held at Kalinga Stadium yesterday.
India failed to qualify for the quarters after losing the crucial match yesterday with a narrow margin.
Senior officials of the Commissionerate Police said that out of the total four accused, three are from outside Odisha. The accused were selling the hockey match tickets at an exorbitant price and were minting money.
As per reports, the accused were selling tickets at a price ranging from Rs 1,200 to 2,000 against the actual price of tickets between Rs 200 and Rs 400. Police have seized eight tickets and cash worth Rs 11,000 from their possession.
It is not for the first time that the black marketing of the ongoing Hockey World Cup tickets has surfaced. Earlier, the Sahid Nagar police in Bhubaneswar had busted a racket involving in the sale of tickets for the match between India and Wales to be played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on January 19.
A total of five accused, including a girl student of civil engineering of a university in Bhubaneswar and four other businessmen were arrested in this connection.
