Ex-Berhampur Mayor receives death threat from ‘supari killer’, files complaint

Former Berhampur Mayor, Sibasankar Das, has filed a formal complaint at Gosaninuagaon police station after allegedly receiving a death threat from a notorious contract killer.

According to Das, the accused, identified as Sibaram Pal, made a WhatsApp call to him on Monday. During the conversation, Pal allegedly threatened to kill him and ‘smash’ him completely.  Demanding safety, Das immediately reported the matter to the police.

Police sources confirmed that Pal is a history-sheeter with multiple criminal cases registered against him. He has reportedly been involved in serious offences in the past and has served several jail terms.

“First, I got a call on WhatsApp, but I did not respond. After some time, I got the call again, and when I picked it up, he started abusing me. Siba Pal is from our village, and I have filed a written complaint in this regard,” said Das.

Following the complaint, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. Officers are also examining the call details to verify the allegations.
