The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the financial transactions in the honey trap case, on Friday arrested lady blackmailer Archana Nag’s husband Jagabandhu Chand on money laundering charge.

The ED arrested Chand after gathering enough evidence against him. Earlier, the police had arrested him . And now the ED has arrested him in the case. At the same time, the ED will produce him before the court today as Jagabandhu’s nine-day remand came to an end. The ED is likely to seek further remand of Jagabandhu.

Earlier, the ED had grilled Archana and Jagabandhu face-to-face.

Meanwhile, the court heard Jagabandhu’s anticipatory bail petition pertaining to the case registered against him at the Khandagiri police station. The court has asked the police to deposit the case diary.

Earlier, the ED had arrested Archana Nag under the Money Laundering Act on December 13 . To dig more into the case, the ED had sought 15-day remand of Nag but the Court had directed the ED to produce her on December 13.

While being taken out of the court, Nag had broken her silence for the first time and said that she was put under arrest arbitrarily and her family members were too under house arrest.

While responding to media queries at the Capital Hospital, Nag had said, “I need sufficient time to speak, at least 30 minutes.

If I speak out, the entire scenario of the state will change. I have been trapped. I will give all 'exclusive' evidence and not spare anyone," she had said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Police had arrested Nag on October 7 on charges of honey-trapping bigwigs and extorting money from them. Later, on October 21, Nag’s husband Jagabandhu Chand was also arrested from their Satya Vihar residence in Bhubaneswar.
