In yet another incident of assault on forest officials, an inebriated youth allegedly assaulted a Forester in Muktapasi beat under Kamakhyanagar Western Forest Range in Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.

The forest official Chandrasekhar Behera was severely injured after being reportedly attacked with a sturdy stick by the drunk youth. 

The forester has reportedly suffered serious injuries on his head. He was admitted to the nearby hospital in a critical condition. He is being closely monitored in the medical by doctors.

 

The accused has been identified as Pinku Parida of neighbouring Padmapokhari village.
According to reports, Behera was having his meal at home when Parida entered his residence in an inebriated condition and beat him black and blue. 

Hearing Behera scream with pain, other officials rushed to the spot and grabbed the assaulter. Later he was handed over to Kamakhyanagar police.

“I don’t know the official. I attacked him at the insistence of a member of the elephant squad of Muktapasi fortest beat,” said the accused.

The injured forest official Behera said he did not know the assaulter before.

“The assaulter told me that he has been sent by some people to attack me. I have no clue about the people who could be my enemies,” said Behera.
