Death of woman in chain-snatching incident: Commissionerate Police nabs another Jharkhand criminal
Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested another accused in the chain-snatching incident in which a woman lost her life near Labanagiri hills Bhubaneswar on November 13. The accused has been identified as Bidhata from Jharkhand. He was arrested from Barbil area in Keonjhar district. ‘
Senior police officials informed that Bidhata is a notorious criminal and has been exonerated. Six special teams were formed to nab Bidhata, who is said to be the prime accused in the series of chain-snatching incidents.
The inspector-in-charge informed that as Bidhata is a notorious criminal, a bullet is still embedded in his stomach. Efforts are on to ascertain his involvement in other crimes in Odisha.

Earlier, the Airfield Police Station had managed to nab one accused involved in the heinous act after examining nearly 400 CCTV cameras in Bhubaneswar. He has been identified as Raju Naidu (26), is a native of Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district.
Both the accused were to work as lift mechanics and were staying in Bhubaneswar
Senior officials of the Commissionerate Police had carried out an exhaustive 400 CCTV camera footage to track down the suspects involved in the crime. This resulted in the earlier arrest of Raja Naidu, also known as Jhingaru, who is from Jharkhand. The stolen gold chain, along with the clothes worn by the suspect during the theft and the motorbike used for the escape, have been recovered by authorities.
U Bishnu Patra was going with her husband on a bike as a pillion rider from Bhubaneswar to Harirajpur to visit Somanath temple when the accused attempted to loot the gold chain. In the bid, Patra fell down from the bike and later succumbed to fatal head injuries.
