Nursing student Kuni Kanhara, whose body was recovered from her hostel room at Jamukoli on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Sundarpada-Jatani road on Sunday night, was battling insomnia.

It was revealed from a purported suicide letter recovered from her room where she had allegedly hanged herself.

Though the police are yet to confirm the veracity of the letter, the contents of it indicate that Kuni was struggling with insomnia. In the letter, she urged police to not question anybody and she herself is responsible for her death.

“I am in a lot of pain because of sleeplessness. I can’t sleep even for a minute. I have lost all the motivation in my life. Nobody is responsible for this,” said the letter.

Following the recovery of body, the police rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the incidence.

The police sent the body for autopsy after the family of the deceased arrived at the hostel on Monday morning.

Worth mentioning, this is the third case of suicide in Odisha capital over last few days.

A few days back, a married woman identified as Subhashree Mohapatra allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside her house in Shastri Nagar locality of Bhubaneswar on August 30 evening.

Similarly, software engineer Sweta Utkal Kumari allegedly hanged herself to death at her apartment in Bhubaneswar in August creating a ripple in the social corridors. Her boyfriend was in the police lens for allegedly abetting her suicide.
