Cash seized during raid
The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested the block development officer (BDO) of Athagarh block, Cuttack for accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance team conducted simultaneous raids on property linked to BDO Pradeep Kumar Sahu at eight places including Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
During the raids, the sleuths unearthed Sahu’s moveable and immovable property including two buildings in Bhubaneswar, a flat on the second floor, Shree Enclave apartment at Goutam Nagar Bhubaneswar; three plots in Khurdha and Rajsunakhala Nayagarh; Rs 6 lakh in cash, deposits worth Rs 46 lakh, gold jewellery weighing 452 grams, silver ornaments weighing 500 grams, two four-wheelers and four two-wheelers. Sahu was placed under arrest after he failed to account for the assets detected satisfactorily.

The raids were conducted by a team of six inspectors, 10 ASIs and other staff led by six DSPs at Shree Enclave apartment, a building at Bhaliabadi, Khurda, two buildings at Rajsunakhala, his paternal house at Rajsunakhala, a relative’s house at Pichukuli in Khurda and his office quarter at Athagarh.
