Cops bust gang behind Berhampur diamond trader shooting and loot case
In a major breakthrough, the police have apprehended three suspects and an accomplice in connection with the firing and robbery of diamond trader Balaram Acharya of Shastrinagar in Berhampur. The incident had created a stir in the local community as the trader was shot at and robbed of diamonds in a brazen attack.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Malay Upadhyay, Saroj Kumar Mahanti from the Khandagiri area, Sheikh Raju, and Sahil Khan.
During the arrests, police recovered one vehicle, three mobile phones, two empty cartridges, and two bullets from the accused.
Despite the arrests, the prime accused, Raja Khan, remains absconding. The stolen diamonds have not yet been recovered, prompting police to intensify their search operations. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend additional persons involved in the crime.
So far, police have not issued any official statement regarding the progress of the investigation or the recovery of the stolen valuables.
