Balasore: After a brief lull, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), investigating a multi crore chit fund scam in Odisha, has once again geared up to book more accused who were on the run in the case.

As per reports, the probe agency today arrested two accused in the Green Ray International Ltd (GRIL) chit fund case in Balasore. The duo has been identified as Mir Jamir and Kalo. They are the two brothers of the company CMD Mir Sahiruddin alias Gora.

The sibling brothers were caught following a raid at Jaleswar area in Balasore district, CBI officials said.

They were arrested for their alleged involvement in the chit fund case. Some properties of Sahiruddin were also seized during the raid, CBI official said.

The company CMD Sahiruddin had been arrested in 2017 by the central probe team in connection with the scam.

The company had allegedly duped gullible investors to the tune of around Rs 1,000 crore.

According to CBI sources, Sahiruddin had invested the money in some foreign countries.

The company had collected around Rs 600 crore from people in Odisha.

The Odisha Crime Branch which earlier probed the chit fund case had frozen dozens of bank accounts of the prime accused and seized huge quantities of gold and silver coins from his possession.

The CBI suspected Sahiruddin's underworld links in Dubai, Nigeria, and Bangladesh.

Sahiruddin had earlier denied any political link in his business. He had said that he had not received any political patronage from any leader.
