Suspended BJD leader and Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev has once again courted a controversy by allegedly threatening a local resident of his constituency.

As per reports, the Chilika MLA had paid a visit to a club house at Gambharimunda where a local reportedly told Jagdev that he lacked commonsense. Incensed over the same, the MLA allegedly threatened the local to not allow him go back to his home if he did not apologise.

Later, on getting information, a team of Banpur police reportedly reached the spot and brought the situation under control and ensured the MLA release the person.

A video of the incident which, has reportedly gone viral on social media platforms, showed the MLA purportedly saying, "I came here to pay a visit to this organisation (the club house) as it's my duty as an MLA and a citizen. But a gentleman came here and abused me stating that I lack commonsense. He will apologise or else he will not be released."

However, comments of the Chilika MLA over the viral video could not be obtained.

Last year in September, Jagdev was also accused of attacking BJP Balugaon Mandal chairman Niranjan Sethi. The Chilika MLA had allegedly abused and slapped Sethi in full public view.

The BJD legislator was suspended by party president Naveen Patnaik after Niranjan lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident.

Later, the Orissa High Court granted conditional bail to the suspended BJD MLA and directed him not to influence witnesses in the cases and put forth other conditions.
