Bolangir tehsildar and additional tehsildar have been put under suspension for their alleged involvement in selling a piece of land belonging to a dead person by forging documents. The state government has suspended the officials on the basis of a report submitted by the District Collector.

The suspended tehsildar and additional tehsildar have been identified as Maghaban Bagh and Harekrushna Rout respectively.

It’s pertinent to mention here that, OTV had broadcast a news item concerning the land grabbing issue. Subsequently, the District Collector had formed a two-member team to probe the allegations.  On the basis of the report of the team, the two officers have been suspended.

Notably, following allegations against now-suspended Bolangir Sadar tehsildar Bagh for forging documents to sell a piece of land, a case was registered against him under Sections 420, 468, 471 and 34 of IPC.

As per reports, Bagh had forged documents of the land belonging to a dead daily wager and sold it to another person. Sources said, Bagh had executed the registration and mutation process by using his digital signature. In the process, he had made a cow herder the seller of the land.

Then a picture of the tehsildar and the man who bought the land from the cow herder had gone viral, substantiating the relationship between the tehsildar and the buyer.

However, the tehsildar had then pleaded ignorance about the viral picture.

“Though I know the buyer and we have met in the past, I do not know anything about the picture going viral,” Bagh had said.
