A youth hailing from Bihar has been arrested by Cuttack police from Gujarat on Sunday for allegedly posting obscene videos of a minor girl on social media.

As per reports, 20-year-old Prakash Kumar, a resident of Bihar who worked as a labourer at a factory in Gujarat, came in contact with a school girl aged about 15 years, who resides in Cuttack under Phase II Police limits, through a Chinese friendship app Likee.

Sources said, after the Chinese app Likee was banned by the Indian government, the duo continued their relationship through Instagram and gradually friendship developed between them which deepened with time.

The youth had garnered over 58, 000 followers on his Instagram by sharing different videos which impressed the girl, said sources.

Prakash emotionally stimulated the girl to send her nude photos and videos. He successfully obtained certain obscene videos of the school girl during WhatsApp video calling and recorded them without her knowledge.

When the girl started avoiding Prakash to concentrate on her studies, the youth reportedly abused her and started threatening the girl of dire consequences.

He reportedly shared the videos and photos to her family members' and her relatives through WhatsApp and Instagram. Moreover, he also threatened them to share the pictures and footages publicly on social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube by tagging her school friends and teachers as well.
Soon after, the family members of the girl lodged a complaint at CDA- Phase-II police station on August 21. The police immediately launched a probe after receiving the complaints and traced the phone number of Prakash with the help of Cyber Cell team of Cuttack.

A joint team of police and Cyber Cell officials traced Prakash from Surat and arrested him.
