A group of 8 to 10 miscreants armed with sharp weapons like daggers, swords and sticks unleashed terror in Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar and ransacked property in the wee hours of Thursday. 

The incident which took place in Lane-3 of Gandamunda under the Khandagiri police limits has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the neighbourhood. The gang damaged at least two cars and an equal number of motorcycles parked in the locality. 

Though the miscreants involved in the sabotage act are yet to be identified and their motive is still to be known, the locals have lodged a complaint in this regard. Based on the CCTV footage, the police have launched a probe into the matter.

“The incident took place at around 12.5 am. The gang members wielding swords and hurling abusive words made rounds of the locality for some time. They knocked on each door and gate of the residential buildings. They first ransacked two bikes and then a car. They also broke the glasses of my car,” said Sanjay Bhoi, a local resident. 

Speaking on the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Umashankar Dash said, “On getting information about the incident, a police team had rushed to the spot. We have searched the area and got our hands on some clues. We are hopeful that those involved in the vandalism will be nabbed very soon.”
