Even since woman blackmailer Archana Nag was arrested for allegedly extorting money from many high-profile people, shocking details continue to tumble out every single day.

In the latest development in the case, it is learnt that Nag honeytrapped more than 25 influential persons including 18 MLAs. The matter has now surcharged the political atmosphere in the State ahead of the crucial bypoll to Dhamnagar constituency.

There are reports that majority of the MLAs are from Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government.

While questions were earlier raised on the alleged hush-hush handling of the case by police, now it is believed that the Commissionerate Police is in a difficult situation now to take forward the probe.

Questions are also being raised as to why Archana Nag was not taken on remand for interrogation even as more than one week has passed since her arrest.

Though a girl had lodged a complaint against Nag at Khandagiri police station and spilled the beans on her illicit trade, the police did not show any interest to probe the allegations and record the statement under Section 164 of CrPC.

The photographs of Nag and her husband Jagabandhu Chand with many politicians and influential persons have gone viral on social media. Some politicians admitted to knowing Nag while some others denied any link. However, the police are allegedly not actively probing those angles.

Notably, Archana and her husband earned quick money by recording sex videos of influential persons and blackmailing them. However, her plan to trap film producer Akshay Parija backfired and she landed behind bars.

The Opposition including the BJP and Congress targeted the Odisha government alleging involvement of BJD MLAs and Ministers in the lady blackmailer Archana Nag case. BJP leader Babu Singh made an explosive statement in connection with the sensational case in which he alleged that the 11 MLAs accused of being honey trapped by lady blackmailer Archana Nag also include 3 ministers of the state government.

Several young leaders of the ruling BJD used to go to Archana’s house and therefore police is intentionally shielding the accused in the case. Babu further alleged that Archanga’s husband also has links with drugs trade.

Senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi demanded a top level enquiry by impartial agency like CBI to dig more skeletons from the Archana Nag case.

On the other hand, Congress leader Santosh Saluja has said the BJD government will collapse if the truth about the involvement of so many MLAs and ministers of state government comes to fore. Archana’s laptop and mobile have all details about their wrong deeds, said Saluja.

However, the BJD has not issued any statements over the shocking allegations.
