The Opposition including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress targeted the Odisha government alleging involvement of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLAs and Ministers in the lady blackmailer Archana Nag case.

Addressing a press conference, State BJP Mahila Morcha President, Smruti Patnaik said, “The government should clarify who all are involved with Archana Nag. The police are avoiding questioning Archana under pressure from BJD leaders. That is why despite her arrest, the investigation is going nowhere.”

The BJP demanded CBI enquiry in the case pointing only the central agency can conduct an impartial investigation as the MLAs and leaders of the ruling party are involved in this high profile case.

“The police have failed here. The Home department under CM Naveen Patnaik has failed to unearth the hidden skeletons. So an impartial probe can only be done by the CBI,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Congress party also slammed the State government over the issue. Speaking to reporters, Congress leader, Debasish Patnaik said the content in hard disk seized by the police from Archana’s possession should be made public.

“The government should reveal all the names of influential leaders involved with Archana Nag. So we demand a judicial enquiry in the case,” Patnaik said.

Asked to react on the allegations, BJD spokesperson, Lenin Mohanty said, “The party which is liable to answer has surprisingly turned to question us. It is laughable to the core that they dare to question us.”

“If they have guts and any proof of involvement of BJD leaders, they should make it public,” Mohanty added.

Days after the arrest of a lady on charges of shooting obscene videos of influential persons and blackmailing them in Bhubaneswar, more sensational revelations are making the case murkier with each passing day.

The surfacing of a photo of the lady’s husband with Odisha Cabinet Minister Jagannath Sarka has fuelled more speculations of their links with the ruling Biju Janata Dal.

In another photo which has gone viral on social media, the lady blackmailer along with her husband could be seen posing with senior BJD leader Surjya Narayan Patro and Manmath Routray, son of veteran Congress leader, Suresh Routray.
