Covid-19 transmission rate in Odisha is likely to decline due to less crowding during winter, said the Director of Medical Education Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty on Monday.
Speaking to media, Mohanty said, "The Covid-19 infection is likely to plummet in Odisha during winter season as people will prefer to stay indoor due to cold weather condition."
"As the Centre has lifted restrictions on inter-state movement, it is not possible to restrict people from visiting. Hence people should be extra cautious and avoid coming in close contact with people coming from outside," Mohanty added.

Notably, 407 persons, including 74 in the 0-18 year age group tested positive for Covid-19 in Odisha in the last 24 hours. Similarly, the State recorded six deaths due to virus taking the cumulative death toll to 8,220.
Of the new cases, 238 cases were reported in quarantine while the rest 169 are local contact cases, informed State Information and Public Relations Department.
Odisha has 5075 active cases at present, while 1015018 have recuperated from the disease so far.
