Following footsteps of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), the civic body in Rourkela launched a door-to-door drive on Tuesday to vaccinate senior citizens, bed-ridden patients and differently-abled persons under its jurisdiction.

“To provide COVID vaccination at home to the bedridden and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at Rourkela, we are ready to launch 'Sanjeevani Rath',” informed the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Monday through a tweet.

The vaccination van was flagged off by the Rourkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak today. As many as 10 persons whose names have already been registered will be inoculated on the first day of the campaign.

Rourkela Additional District Magistrate and Incident Commander for Covid-19 Aboli Sunil Naravane and RMC Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida were also present at the event.

Elderly, bed-ridden people and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) may call on 0661 251 0036 between 10 AM and 4 PM for assistance. They may also alternatively call on the District Help Line or Rourkela Covid-19 helpline numbers for getting the vaccination schedule. The vaccination van team will have a doctor, technician and health worker.

“This is another attempt to speed up the vaccination drive in the State. The door-to-door vaccination initiative has been started for people who are bed-ridden, senior citizens, differently-abled and those who cannot visit the vaccination centres. They can contact us over the helpline number following which a list will of the beneficiaries will be prepared. Later, the 'Sanjeevani Rath' will visit them at their homes and vaccinate them with strict adherence to all the Covid-19 protocols,” said RMC Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida.

“Initially, one vehicle has been rolled out for the purpose. The service will be strengthened as and when, vaccines will be available,” he added.

The Berhampur Municipal Corporation had on Monday launched the ‘Vaccination at Doorstep’ campaign to administer Covid vaccines to elderly persons who are above 70 years of age and those who are not able to walk or are bedridden. A mobile number- 73280 99324- was also released by the BeMC for the doorstep vaccination drive.

People who cannot visit the vaccination centres can call on the number between 8 am and 12 noon and ask the concerned mibile team to arrive at their door step for the vaccination.
