Bhubaneswar: The Covid 19 situation is Cuttack and Bhubaneswar is in a plateau stage as the daily positive cases are hovering around 200-300 for last several days, Director, Health Services, Dr Bijay Mohapatra said.
The cases are revolving around a particular figure in the two cities, he said attributing the phenomenon to the regular movement of outsiders to Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
“Rate of hospitalisation and severity is going down in the last 15 days in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. The situation in the twin city is in plateau stage. ICU and ventilator occupancy has also decreased in the two cities,” he added.

Notably, Khurdha, of which Bhubaneswar a part, reported 446 single-day cases while Cuttack witnessed 319 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.
He further maintained that community has a bigger role to play in controlling a pandemic even as the government takes every measure for the containment of the virus in the State.
Not only the government but the help of community is also the need of the hour to defeat the pandemic, Mohapatra said.
Keeping all aspects in view, the government has eased restrictions. It doesn't mean people should lower the guard, he added.
“The government relaxed lockdown restriction keeping life and livelihood in mind. Now, we need cooperation of community. All should be aware of their own accountability and responsibility. We have also ramped up treatment and surveillance. All the measures are being taken by the government. A joint effort of community and government is required to arrest a pandemic,” Mohapatra said.
Appealing people to take vaccine doses, the senior Health Official said that only 0.3 per cent people are found re-infected post-vaccination. No one is found getting critical after receiving the final dose. The vaccine shot helps increasing the antibody against the contagious virus, he pointed out.
