Odisha government on Saturday approved the expansion of the third phase of the Covid-19 vaccination of 18-44 years age group to 22 more district head quarters Municipalities/NACs this month.

"Under phase-3 Covid-19 vaccination strategies, the vaccination of 18-44 years age group has already been started in five Municipal Corporations and six district head quarters Municipalities/NACs in the month of May, 2021. Now State government has approved expansion of the vaccination of 18 to 44 years age group in the rest 22 district head quarters Municipalities/ NACs in the month of June, 2021," read the directive issued by the Additional Chief Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.

"The State is going to receive 6,45,790 doses of Covishield vaccine in June 2021 in three trenches, which will be distributed to the districts for the first dose vaccination based on their target beneficiaries. Students and athletes aged 18 to 44 years, who will be going abroad, should be given priority for vaccination," the directive further read.

Mohapatra has also requested the Collectors and Magistrates to remain in readiness for vaccination of 18 to 44 year age group in their respective district head quarter Municipalities/ NAC s and to saturate the urban vaccination of the said age group in the shortest possible time.
